Happy Monday Everybody!

This week, we are taking a break from our regular productivity app hacks.  I wanted to share with you my favorite motivational quotes about productivity.

Personal Productivity is like a roller coaster ride; it has it’s ups and downs.  From time to time, we need to draw some inspiration.

These little pearls of wisdom can teach you everything you need to know about the business of doing more, doing it better and faster.

Enjoy the ride!

Alan Kay motivational quote

Aristotle

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

Paul Meyer motivational quote

Thomas Edison

“There is no substitute for hard work.”

Franz Kafka

“Productivity is being able to do things that you were never able to do before.”

David Allen

Thomas J. Watson

“Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success.”

Nikola Tesla motivational quote

Benjamin Franklin

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”

Stephan King

“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”

Bruce Lee

“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”

Douglas R. Hofstadter

“Hofstadter’s Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter’s Law”

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it” is actually an Alan Kay quote. And he did.

Haim, excellent collection. I’ve emailed this link to myself so I can refer back to a couple of these (of note is Ben Franklin’s. I’m not sure I’ve read that one before. I love that guy!)

Here’s one I recommend to every leader I talk to, for her people at all levels of the org as well as for herself:

Put more white space on your calendar. Give yourself time to think.

You can quote me, though I hardly think that’s something I invented – just observed. Ori Brafman, in his outstanding new book “The Chaos Imperative,” has a whole section dedicated to this principle.
