Email and Tasks, a Natural Relationship

I know that there are tons of task management tools out there – in fact, there’s a good chance you and I have used some of the same ones. But, none of them turned out to be the solution I was looking for. As part of the IQTELL.COM team, I’m actually thrilled that the solution is now available, and it’s part of my personal IQTELL Workspace.

Just so you better understand my needs, many of my to-do items originate from common, everyday events like a phone call, meeting, conversation or an email. I was looking for a way to connect those events to the tasks I need to complete.

Using my IQTELL Workspace, I found what I was looking for. Everything is connected. For example, the other day I received my monthly email from my electric company. I opened it, and to my surprise, the invoice was nearly double the total amount I paid in any of the past 12 months! Something was wrong, but I didn’t have time at that moment to look into it. Thankfully, I opened this particular email in my IQTELL Workspace, and with a quick right-click, I created a to-do item to call my utility company.

By creating this to-do item from the email message in my IQTELL Workspace, the two are now “linked” to each other. What this means is that from the email I can see I’ve created a follow-up action (the to-do item), and from the to-do item I can see the originating email. This is incredibly useful when I need to see what actions I need to take to mark my to-do item, “Completed.”

One of my favorite features of IQTELL is my ability to set reminders. In this case, I expected to hear back from the electric company within a few days. So, I set a reminder for this entry in my Workspace. I set it to send me a text message to my phone at a specific date and time so that I would be reminded to check and see if my electric company resolved the issue. It really gives me peace of mind knowing that even as I’m working on other to-do items, I will be reminded to take care of this one.

I would love to hear from you, see what experiences you’ve had and learn how IQTELL can help you get things done!

Can you do this in the Android mobile app? i.e. create a task that LINKS to the email message that triggered the task. I don’t want to include the full email message in the Task, just a link to the message that I can later click on, and open.  It seems there’s a gazillion GTD/task managment apps on the market, and none of them seem to be able to do this in the mobile app. I’m guessing that  there’s a reason why this obvious functionality isn’t included in the mobile apps.. I just wish someone would explain why, so I can stop looking..
